A fresh perspective on the theory of making clear ice

After multiple years of journey in making clear ice, we have our own point of view on it.

We know temperature affects the speed of freezing. But how does the temperature change when ice forms in the tumbler? Let’s see something special:

Tumblers cannot change the trend of the water getting colder and colder when freezing, but they can prevent the ice from freezing too fast. On the condition that the ice is more accessible to catch water than others, the slower freezing speed gives impurities and bubbles more time to escape from the transition surface.

How it Works?

How can we drive every slice of ice be that clear?

We achieve it from two sides.

Firstly, we took the silicone compression volume into account in the mold design. We calculated and tested several silica gel properties and came up with the most stable parameter, which not only holds ice expansion as it grows but also can be easily removed from the tumbler.

Moreover, GLAZER mini avoids the “freezing boom” by minimizing wasted space. The less water we use, the less dissolved gas there will be. When water turns into ice, part of the gas will be dissolved into the water, and the other half will be on top of the water(the transition surface). Through our design, the issue of bubble formation in the ice has been effectively resolved.
