The AGELOCER Astronomer Series Moon Phase Watch has an indissoluble bond with the vast universe. This time, we used the Muonionalusta iron meteorite from Lapland, Sweden, which is rarer than diamonds on the surface of the earth, to create a precise moon phase watch. AGELOCER believes that using cosmic materials to make precise moon phase watches is the best expression of mechanical watches and astronomy.

This is the oldest meteorite on Earth, which fell into the Arctic Circle about 900,000 years ago and was first discovered in 1906. It has undergone glacial compression and freeze-thaw cycles, naturally forming a dense structure with strong corrosion resistance. The texture of each dial is never repeated, and the naturally etched Westerden pattern is the artistic fingerprint of the universe. The naturally generated artistry surpasses artificial carving and can give the watch more collection value.

The inspiration for the creation of the Astronomer series comes from the sun, moon and stars, and the moon phase is used as a symbol to record time.
Imagine being immersed in the universe, with the moon dancing gracefully on your wrist, making every moment of your life full of charm.

We have been thinking about how to better display the natural phenomenon of the moon phase on a mechanical watch, and now we have a completely innovative moon phase mechanical solution! We broke the traditional small window-blocking moon phase design, allowing the finely carved moon to show the whole process of the moon phase in nature over time.

A moon phase watch has a window on the dial that shows the different phases of the moon, just as the moon appears in the sky at the time. The moon phase mechanical watch is an amazing and ingenious technology that has been around for hundreds of years. The moon phase and perpetual calendar, tourbillon and minute repeater are known as the “four major complications” of mechanical watches.

Moon phase devices are usually associated with high-end watches and dominated by major brands. However, we have successfully made this technology affordable so that everyone can immerse themselves in the excellent moon phase display experience.

AGELOCER 29.51-day precision moon phase module

The traditional moon phase disc is driven by a 59-tooth gear and advances one step every 24 hours. It takes 29.5 days to complete a moon phase cycle, forming a 708-hour moon phase cycle. The astronomical moon phase cycle is 29.53 days (708.72 hours), and the conventional moon phase will have a one-day error in 2.7 years.

The AGELOCER moon phase watch consists of a 31-tooth moon phase disc, which advances one step every 22.846 hours and completes a moon phase cycle in 29.51 days, forming a 708.23-hour moon phase cycle.
The AGELOCER moon phase watch has an error of one day in 4.1 years, and its accuracy is 1.5 times that of the traditional moon phase.

This is a small step for us, but it is a giant leap for mechanical watches.

The space meteorite dial highlights the infinite charm of astronomical exploration

The dial is made of slices of the Muonionalusta iron meteorite found in Lapland, Sweden in 1906. The unique Widmanstatten Patter of the meteorite reveals a unique fine velvet pattern (only 0.15–0.2mm wide) after acid etching, which is proof of the slow crystallization of iron-nickel crystals in space over millions of years. It cannot be artificially imitated and is the rare identity card of the meteorite. The iron and nickel minerals in the meteorite slowly cool down at a rate of 1-10°C per million years, interweaving patterns from the universe to form a special grid texture of gray and silver interweaving. These materials from the universe make each watch unique and distinctive, highlighting the infinite charm of this watch in carrying astronomical exploration.

Exquisite meteorite chamfering process

The hardness of natural meteorites is not uniform. It is formed by the interlacing of kamacite and taenite, and the local hardness varies greatly. The hardness difference between adjacent areas of the same piece of material can reach more than 60%, and the microhardness drop can even exceed 100%:

· The hardness of kamanite in meteorites is about 150-180HV
· The hardness of nickelite in meteorites is about 200-240HV, and the hardening of parts can reach 400HV

Even OMEGA’s Speedmaster Meteorite watch does not chamfer meteorite materials, because chamfering is prone to cracking, and in addition to the high difficulty of the process, it will also make the cost out of control. The meteorite chamfering process can only be done by a skilled watchmaker under a microscope, point by point, and the cutting force of each microstructure must be judged in real time. A single dial may take more than 20 hours. Despite such difficulties, AGELOCER still hopes to present a more perfect watch, and we did it! This is AGELOCER’s first technological milestone in the application of meteorite materials! However, the AGELOCER meteorite moon phase watch has a more affordable price than luxury brands.

Carved luminous moon

The protagonist of this watch is the moon, and our goal is to make the moon perform better in the watch.

Therefore, over the years, the design optimization of the moon phase has never stopped. From 3D metal printing to metal carving, whether it is matte or polished technology, many versions have been tried, just to capture the most realistic details of the moon.

We’ve kept its iconic design elements: huge, bright, ultra-realistic, moving smoothly across a deep, unique night sky dial.

A huge design breakthrough, the first panoramic window dial

Before AGELOCER designed the panoramic moon phase window, the traditional moon phase was displayed in a small window. This subversive 28.5mm large moon phase window design has created a panoramic moon phase watch in the industry. In order to enable the watch to drive a large area of the moon phase disk and prevent the dial from sliding due to the inertia of wrist movement when worn, the design team spent hundreds of hours on repeated testing, re-improved the anti-return structure and drive structure of the watch, thickened the toggle spring, and strengthened the power output of the turntable to fight inertia with superb research and development technology. This technology has been protected by China’s utility model patent and design patent.

80-hour long kinetic energy automatic mechanical movement

Rolex, Omega, Patek Philippe, and other watches that cost tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of dollars have a standard kinetic energy reserve of only 40 hours, but AGELOCER has achieved an amazing 80-hour power reserve through technological innovation, with a kinetic energy reserve that is 100% higher! The long-kinetic energy watch spring releases energy more slowly and evenly, which can improve the accuracy and stability of the watch. The movement has a vibration frequency of 28,800 vibrations/time (4HZ), which controls the daily error within ±15 seconds.

Luxurious materials and fine polishing technology used in Swiss luxury watches

This is a luxury watch independently developed in China and the first one with a platinum-plated movement plate. It is equipped with 27 ruby bearings and a gold-stamped engraved brand logo. The movement is exquisitely polished with circular Geneva patterns, fish scale patterns and chamfers, which is a polishing process only available on high-end watches costing more than tens of thousands of dollars.

Double-sided sapphire crystal

In order to better appreciate the exquisite details of the watch, AGELOCER uses the same sapphire glass material as top luxury goods for both the watch mirror and the bottom cover. 6N (99.9999%) grade high-purity sapphire glass, the refractive index of ordinary glass is about 1.5, and the refractive index of sapphire glass reaches 1.76. Through optical principles, the light beam injected into the crystal is reflected 360° without dead angles on all cut surfaces. The sapphire with anti-glare treatment makes the watch clearer and more flawless.

Blue aventurine is a relatively precious variety in the gold sandstone family. Quartz crystals are deep blue or purple-blue due to the presence of flaky blue iron ore. Million Dollar Device

To create high-quality watches, professional machinists use multimillion-dollar equipment such as the Willemin 5-Axis, which transforms precious metals into precision parts such as the gear wheels, gear axles, and movement bridges in the tourbillon movement.

High-end watch parts can only come from high-end machines. Each piece is made with great precision, with an error margin of only microns, but these are just watch parts.

Over 500 Hours of Crafting

After mechanical processing, the parts need to be delicately and exquisitely hand-polished. Each watch will be meticulously created by different watchmakers to create a decorative effect comparable to high-end jewelry, which is a level that no mechanical equipment can achieve.

• 100% waterproof test of the watch head

The airtightness of each watch is tested by professional testing equipment to simulate 50 meters underwater (about 5 bar, which is equivalent to 5 times the atmospheric pressure).

• 100% full inspection and independent adjustment

Unlike most 3C consumer products that use a sampling inspection mode of less than 5%, AGELOCER’s products use a full inspection method to adjust each watch to ensure that it is in the most perfect condition when the user receives it.

• 100% finished product 4-position adjustment test

In the fully wound state, the Swiss watch calibration instrument is used for testing: horizontal placement with the surface facing up, horizontal placement with the surface facing down, vertical placement with the crown facing up, and the surface facing up at a 45° angle. The time error in the four directions cannot exceed 10±10 seconds to meet the standard.

• 192-hour simulated wear test

Put the watch on the automatic winder to simulate normal wear. The watch on the automatic winder will rotate 360 ​​degrees to simulate the real user environment. The watch will run for a total of 192 hours and record the time error to screen out unqualified products, further ensuring that every watch sold is accurate and stable.

• Low-temperature dehumidification and dust removal of the movement

In order to extend the life of the movement, we try our best to achieve the ultimate: before packaging each watch, all semi-finished products, including the movement, must undergo 30 minutes of low-temperature dehumidification treatment, and then undergo professional micro-dust removal treatment. Ultimately, ensure that the interior of the watch is sufficiently dry and clean.

• Additional water temperature change resistance performance test and condensation test are added

Due to the limitations of watch materials and the principle of thermal expansion and contraction, mechanical watches have limited tolerance to water vapor. AGELOCER has added additional water temperature change resistance tests and condensation tests to provide consumers with watches with higher sealing properties.

Before making adjustments, it is vital to know whether the moon is waxing or waning. You can always use the internet to find out the current moon phase.

Once you have determined the moon phase, note that the full moon appears at the 12 o’clock position in the window and the new moon appears at the 6 o’clock position. Then, count the number of days since the last full or new moon. Generally speaking, the moon moves one step forward since the last full or new moon.

• Pull the crown out to the P3 position, then turn the crown clockwise until the moon phase automatically advances one step.

• Push the crown back into position P2 and then turn it clockwise until the moon phase moves to the correct position.

• Pull the crown out to the P3 position and then turn the crown clockwise until the minute and hour hands move to the correct position.

• Return crown to normal position P1 to complete setting.

Note: Step 1 is to prevent possible damage to the movement due to the position of the hands when setting the moon phase. Although we have designed the gear mechanism to avoid this, we still recommend that you do this for the sake of your watch.
