UMEI was born from the mind of a young girl named Luna, a skilled athlete who faced the aches and pains that accompanied her active lifestyle. Her mother who saw her coming home exhausted every day decided to help her find a solution. Together, they embarked on a mission to create a shoe that would redefine comfort and recovery. Their honest pursuit was catapulted thanks to the help of Luna’s father, a leading authority in the world of 3D printing. 

Together they utilized the innovative capabilities of 3D printing to create a structurally unique shoe design that exceeded their expectations in providing a comfortable and enjoyable walking experience. The once mother-daughter duo evolved into a full-fledged company made up of passionate, like-minded professionals, who, like them, devoted themselves tirelessly to the pursuit of creating the greatest footwear solution around. UMEI was born. 

Now, our team is proud to introduce our Moonwalker Slides and Moonwalker Glides – two 3D printed shoes that are designed to aid in recovery, reduce stress on the body, and look good while doing it.

Whether you’re having an active day, a rejuvenating night in or a long day at work, Moonwalkers can keep you feeling comfortable and supported in whatever situation you find yourself in. 

At UMEI our goal is to provide the most comfortable and recovery filled walking experience during and post activity. To create such an experience we needed a material that would be easily customizable, breathable, and above all, would provide supreme support without any pain points. With standard shoe construction, we would have been limited by the materials. However, with 3D printing, the possibilities opened up entirely. Our breakthrough came through the design of our unique lattice material that boasts all the necessary attributes needed to create a revolutionary shoe solution. 

We’ve thought about every aspect when designing our Moonwalker Slides and Glides. Our comfort solutions go way beyond just softness. Their potential runs the gamut from support to ventilation, from ease of maintenance to a soundproof experience, and much more. We have designed a pair of shoes that doesn’t sacrifice anything when delivering the ultimate comfort experience. 

We understand that everyone is different, so are doing something that has never been done before by a shoe company. For each individual shoe, we’ve developed the option of selecting between two different levels of cushion. 

Our Soft Cushion is our most plush option, giving you a soft, adaptable support that feels like you’re walking on air. This cloud-like cushion gives you a weightless walking experience that is beneficial for recovery.  

Our Supportive Cushion comprises a slightly firmer compression that encourages alignment and proactive relief. This cushion level is best for those who need more support and an energetic boost to their step. 

3D printing allows us the ability to design in a way we never thought possible. At the core of our technology lies our carefully designed Lattice Structure.  

Each lattice structure has its own unique compressive properties and absorbs pressure differently. Our team has developed and tested different lattice structures in order to find the best possible design to give you all-day, adaptable support. While providing a solution that creates the best possible support, we make sure we never sacrifice style. The outcome of this has resulted in dynamic and unique looking shoe designs.  

Our team has been working tirelessly on designing shoes that strike a balance between comfort and longevity. A hallmark of our shoe design has been our unmatched, cloud-like compression. One that took multiple iterations to perfect. Having undergone rigorous testing, each one of our shoe models is now the best possible version it can be. Some highlights include a reinforced border for more durability and comfort, along with a thicker, more structurally sound sole, and an ergonomic foot bed for maximum comfort. 

At UMEI, quality control is a fundamental part of our process, which is why we run through numerous types of durability and compression tests on each batch of shoes we create. We also run an endurance test that cycles through 20,000 reps to ensure durability and longevity. We then finalize each quality check with a meticulous hand-inspection to make sure nothing goes unchecked.

We understand that style is everything which is why our collection has 8 beautiful hues to suit the classic, the bold, and the playful: Sakura Pink, Onyx Black, Mandarin Orange, Stone Grey, Lemon Yellow, Quartz White, Bud Green, and Sapphire Blue.
